Craobh Rua
Sunday April 10th at 3pm
in the Billings North Lounge at the University of Vermont in Burlington
Craobh Rua (pronounced ‘crave roo-ah’) translates from Irish to ‘red branch’, a name that is well known in Celtic history from the Red Branch Knights of Ulster. The group’s Belfast-based musicians Brian Connolly, Jim Rainey, Conor Caldwell, and Aaron Hagan have toured throughout the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Asturias, Belgium, Poland, Slovenia, Denmark, Norway, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. They are regarded as one of the finest ambassadors of Irish traditional music, impeccable musicians performing songs and tunes using an array of instruments…… tenor banjo, mandolin, fiddle, uilleann pipes, tin whistle, and guitar. For more information about the group, visit www.craobhrua.com
Presented by Young Tradition Vermont and the UVM Old Time Music Club. Support provided by Culture Ireland. Contact mrksustc@togehter.net

Mariachi Los Camperos
The world’s premier mariachi band!
Sunday April 3rd at 7pm
at the Flynn Center for the Peforming Arts in Burlington
With two trumpets, four fiddles, Mexican harp, guitarron (six-string bass guitar), and vihuela (five-stringed rhythm guitar), the 2009 Grammy Award-winner celebrates the Mexican Bicentennial with jaw-dropping instrumental and vocal brilliance in ‘Viva Mexico!’ The concert tells the story of Mexican independence through mariachi favorites including Viva Mexico, Mexico Lindo, La Bamba, Ave Maria, La Cucaracha and many more, and celebrates history through rich cultural stories. Led by the esteemed mariachi innovator Natividad ‘Nati’ Cano—who was honored with the National Endowment for the Arts’ Heritage Fellowship—Mariachi Los Camperos features the finest mariachi musicians from Mexico and the US.
Supported in part by Young Tradition Vermont with proceeds benefiting the Tom Sustic Fund
